One of the most satisfying ways of exploring Dalmatia intimately is at your own pace riding a bike, while you are no longer behind the window of four wheels. You can hear the wind, smell the air and feel the specific terrain of Dalmatian inland and islands.
Hidden paths, dirt roads through olive groves, and smell of the pine trees will capture all your senses. Here are some location pointers for bike riders:
1. Dalmatian inland
Biking along the river of Cetina is heaven for MTB lovers. From the vast fields beneath the mountain of Dinara, rapids of the river, Megalith Bridge made from tombstones, Canyon of Krcic River, and a waterfall, there is no escape in embracing nature in this area. This unique landscape has it all: shadows to rest, springs to freshen-up, and history to remember.
2. Island of Hvar
Riding a bike through the island of Hvar will take you through the UNESCO World Heritage site, dating from the Ancient Greek and Roman period. While familiarizing with history, these paths provide beautiful scenery of the island away from the crowds. A ride through small traditional villages of Dol, Vrbanj, Vrisnik, Svirce, and Pitve in the inner part of the island is a must. 3. Island of Brac

There are plenty of riding choices on Brac, one of them conquering the highest peak of all Adriatic islands, Vidova gora (780m) to enjoy the view from the top. This island is very green with woods and providing an interesting terrain for bikers in hills and plains combined. Picturesque places like Nerezisca and Skrip will take you to some other centuries lived long ago.
4. Island of Korcula
Pebblestone beaches and promenades along the coast surround beautiful inland towns with pine forests. Ride throughout the island to visit the town of Korcula, developed inside the fortress and Vela Luka to explore the magnificent cave of Vela Spila with archaeological findings.
Nature reserve Kocje sometimes has rainforest weather conditions and old village Zrnovo some of the best local food to taste.
5. Peljesac Peninsula
On Peljesac peninsula have a lovely ride along protected vineyards producing grapes for famous Croatian wines. Apart from small inland towns like Janjina, you have to visit Ston to see this salt-producing village for yourself. From the longest stone wall in Europe (5.5 km) to the producing of oysters and clams, you will witness all on this unique land!
6. Mljet island

Enjoy nature and easy ride through Mljet National Park along the shores of the inland saltwater lakes Malo Jezero and Veliko Jezero with trails flanked by verdant shrubbery and trees. Enjoy a short boat ride to the island of St. Mary. Explore the small islet and discover the incredible 800 years old Benedictine monastery.
